Recent Activities:

• The Inauguration of Finishing School and a special talk on “How to build a Career at the age of 20?” was organised on Saturday, the 05th September 2020 between 11.30 a.m and 1.00 pm through Google Meet. The Resource Person was Mr. Siju Rajan, Brand Building Strategist, Co – Founder – Aana Machine Mart, HRD Trainer and a Vlogger. He highlighted that skills and knowledge are the driving forces of economic growth and social development of any country. They have become even more important given the increasing pace of globalization and technological changes provide both challenges that is taking place in the world. Countries with higher and better levels of skills adjust more effectively to the challenges and opportunities of globalization. He emphasized that the explosion of digital advancement over the last couple of decades has already changed the way we work, forever. While it has led to the demise of some jobs, it has also led to the inception of entire new industries and the creation of millions of new roles.
  
• The Finishing School of Sree Narayana Guru College, Coimbatore organised a Student Development Series on Friday, the 29th May 2020 between 11.00 am and 12.00 pm.
  The third session was on “Get Ready for Post Covid Job Opportunity”. The Resource Person was Mr. J.S.Sukumar, Director – Operations, Winways Informatics Pvt. Ltd., Madurai. The fourth session was on “Trigger your Passion” between 3.00 pm and 4.00 pm. The Resource Person was Mr. R. Sivarajah, Founder & CEO, Native Lead Foundation, Madurai. Both the sessions was an eye opener for the participants.
  
• The Finishing School of Sree Narayana Guru College, Coimbatore organised a Student Development Series on Thursday, the 28th May 2020 between 11.00 am and 12.45 pm.
  The first session was on “Employability Skills” which is a basic requirement by the employer from each & every candidate aspiring to get a job. The Resource Person was Mr. Inba Vignesh, Best Selling Author & Trainer. The speaker emphasized on the five most important employability skills like Communication, Problem Solving, Team Work, Adaptability & Technology that is ideal for a candidate . These skills would improve the individuality of the candidates. He also discussed the important steps in problem solving which includes Identify the problem, find out the alternatives, choose the best solution & implement the solution.
  
• Finishing School conducts training sessions for the final year students that are aimed at improving their overall Personality development and giving the finishing touches required to take up the challenges in life with confidence. The MoU with Udhavi Educational Consultancy Pvt Ltd., Coimbatore was signed for training the final year UG students in the skill set training. The training session will be on Soft Skills, Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and Verbal Ability in order to acquire in-depth knowledge in the respective topics and with a view to help preparing them for campus placement.

Earn While You Learn

Our College is proud to introduce the concept “Earn While You Learn” as part of skill development and job culture for the II and III year UG students. It is beneficial as it teaches the students the much needed skills so as to in various handicrafts. This scheme serves as a dual purpose as by learning these skills, the students become skilled craftsmen transforming them into earning members by putting these skills into practice. The special feature of this scheme is that it will help them to reduce their monitory burden and boost their self esteem with an added financial source, while pursuing their studies. Art & craft teachers from different institutions & schools are invited to conduct classes on Doll Making & Embroidery, glass painting, and various types of paintings in order to make the students skilled. Dr.R.Sathyadevi is the Convener of Earn While you Learn Programme.

Tutorial & Remedial Classes

Earlier, students were more inclined to self-study and studies on their own, scoring manageably good marks. This trend seems to have gone for a toss with parents, teachers and students looking for just the best scores. Tutorial & Remedy Class have been arranged for slow learners and are also conducted to strengthen the student’s learning and academic skills. These programmes are aimed at providing assistance to students to enrich their knowledge and gain an outstanding learning experience by also excelling in their chosen area of study or learning. Also, this programme cum class can also serve as a sort of networking that helps a student exchange information, notes, books, etc. Students attend these classes not only to improve their academic understanding but also to socialize with another for better sharing of knowledge and information.
