Spread over 6250 Sq.Ft, the library at SNGC Library is well stocked with over 27000 of Books, 150 periodicals and various subscribed E-resources.

About the Library

The library built up area is 6250 Sq.ft with a seating capacity of 120 readers. It is well stocked, and presently has a collection of over 25000 volumes on different subjects. Latest publications in the fields of Life Sciences, Computer Science, Social Sciences, Business and Management, are continuously added to the collection to equip students with a wide range of academic materials. The library also subscribes about 65 journals of national and international repute. All prominent national dailies are also subscribed in the library. The college library is fully automated and a full-fledged online service is provided to its users. The library enables with the Wi-Fi facility.

Sree Narayana Guru Readers Corner

SNGC LibraryA Readers Corner containing the books on Sree Naryana Guru is available in the College central Library which stocks books written by Sree Narayana Guru in languages such as Malayalam, Tamil and English. Students of our College come to know more about the preaching of Sree Narayana Guru through these books. The reading corner not only contains books written by Sree Narayana Guru but also books written by his disciples.

Recent Activities[2021-2022]:


  • As part of National Library Week Celebration, the Department of Library conducted an Extension Activity at Government High School, K.G. Chavadi, Coimbatore on 16.11.2021. Mrs.J.Jakkirunnisa Begam, Head Mistress, G.H.School, welcomed the gathering. Dr.P.Sankar, Librarian, Sree Narayana Guru College acted as a Resource Person and delivered a Guest Lecture on, “Importance of Reading” to the School Students. In his address, the resource person explained about importance of Reading in everyday life. He stated that reading helps gain knowledge about colloquial terms and learning about words through context is one of the most organic ways to understand their meaning and improve vocabulary. He also explained that the reading for pleasure makes a big difference to children’s educational performance through various examples.


  • On the occasion of Sree Narayana Guru Commemorative Lecture Series, Department of Library organised a webinar on “Online Research Databases” Dr. E. Nandakumari, Sr. Library cum Information Assistant , Grade. I, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Jakkur, Bengaluru 560064 was the resource person. During her lecture, She explained With the help of a wide range of free databases, a student can find an abundance of information for any project without wasting hours in libraries. Use resources from our list so you can be assured of credible resources. She outlined how to search in various databases. She listed the various online databases for the research based works.

Activities[2020-2021]:
  • On the occasion of Sree Narayana Guru Endowment Lecture Series, Department of Library conducted the webinar on “Open Educational Resources Issues and Possible Solutions” on 16.02.2021.
    Dr. M. Manjula, Assistant Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, Srimad Andavan Arts and Science College (Autonomous),Trichy was the resource person. During her presentation she mentioned about the how to search information from the web sites and explain about the open access. She provided an outlook about the open access journals, books and other electronic sources for various research purposes. She explained about the Creative Common Licensing for the open access materials and its types of use. She provided the explanation for the various online courses portals with the examples of Khan academy, NPTEL and Swayam. She explained about the various challenges faced by the users while using the open educational resources and how to solve the issues. Dr. M. Manjula addressed the various questions raised by the participants.

    Activities[2019-2020]:
  • The Department of Library and Readers Club organized a programme on “Discussion on Union budget 2020” on 07-02-2020, 10 AM. Venue: Digital Library. Dr. M. Ilangovan, Principal delivered the presidential address and explain about the previous budgets. Dr. P. Sankar, Convener, Reader Club explain about the how the budget are prepared.
    The students presented their understanding about the budget in the various aspects.
  • Silver Jubilee Celebration, Sree Narayana Guru College conducted the Commemorative Lecture Series, Central Library of SNGC organized a guest lecture on “Reading the Brain: Use it or lose it” on 30.07.2019 at Vivekananda Hall. Dr. A. Chitra Dhavaputhalvi, Librarian and Head, Chikkanna Government Arts College delivered the lecture on “Reading the Brain: Use it or Lose it”.
